Gauhati University Admission 2022: GU Admission will start approximately in the month of July for sessions 2022-23. Gauhati University is commonly known as GU. It was set up in 1948, and it is situated in Jalukbari Guwahati in Assam. The university is UGC recognized, and all degrees issued are valid. 

The deadline for Gauhati University MBA Admission 2022-23 is May 5, 2022. The Department of Business Administration at Gauhati University offers a two-year MBA program. Students with a minimum of 50% in their bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply at The MBA entrance test is scheduled for May 29, 2022. Students who scored over the 75% on any national management test, have the option of taking a written test or not. Gauhati University will release its admit cards on May 17, 2022.

  • Admission to PG courses (except for MBA programs) is based on the evaluation of Grade 12 qualifying level tests.

Gauhati University Admission 2022

Gauhati University is well known for offering courses through distance learning. It has more than 350 colleges that are affiliated with it. The university directorate of admission conducts the admission process for the university and all the colleges under its affiliation.

The university offers courses at UG (BA LLB, LLB, B.Tech, etc.), PG (M.Sc Zoology, MA Arabic, M.Com, M.Tech Information and Technology, M.Sc, MA, etc.), and Doctoral level.

The university requires all the applicants to pay an admission fee. The admission fee for PG, UG, and PhD courses is INR 300, and for Diploma courses, it is INR 50.

Gauhati University UG Admission

Students who want to pursue Gauhati UG courses must have completed their Class 10 + 2 from a recognized board. The admission will be based on the aggregates of the last qualifying level, in this case, Class 10 + 2. Some UG courses are enrolled based on entrance examination scores and check below the qualifying examination required for each course.

  • BTech: Students who have done Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics in their Class 10 + 2 can apply. The admission is based on an entrance examination called Assam CEE.
  • LLB: Students who have completed their bachelor’s degree from a recognized university can apply. The admission is merit-based.

Gauhati University PG Admission 

Students who wish to apply for these courses must have graduated from an undergraduate course. The admission is based on the merit of the last graduating level, and the minimum cut-off marks differ from course to course. 

  • MA: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a reputed institution with at least 40% marks. The Bachelor’s Degree must be in a subject relevant to the MSc course you wish to pursue.
  • M.Sc: Bachelor’s Degree in Science stream from a reputed board with at least 50% merit score. The Bachelor’s Degree must be in a subject relevant to the MSc course you wish to pursue.

Gauhati University Entrance Exam

A valid score from the Assam common admission exam (Assam CEE) / JEE Main allows admission to the B.Tech programme. Each PG programme accepts candidates based on their previous university qualifications and entrance exam scores.

A valid score in the GUBEDCET is required for B.Ed. admission. For MPhil and PhD applicants, GAU conducts the Gauhati University Test, while JEE Main or ACEE are used for B-Tech applicants.

Gauhati University has been the pillar of higher education in the Northern Eastern of India. Since 1955 when it was moved to where it is located, the university has enrolled many Northern natives to pursue various courses at different levels. 

Besides the UGC, GU has an affiliation with the NAAC, and the NAAC council has graded it an A school. The university has achieved a lot over the years, establishing 42 PG departments, Engineering Constituent College, Law Constituent College and Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL).

The university has managed to get affiliations with small and growing colleges in the northeast. GU has affiliated with 350 colleges, and the number is expected to increase.
