Aashiq Abu’s Personal Life

Aashiq Abu was born in Kerala’s Edappally to C. M. Abu, and Jameela Abu. Aashiq Abu attended SRV High School in Kochi for his secondary education. As a Maharajas College pre-degree student, he was elected to the Students’ Union and remained a member for four years. On November 1, 2013, he wed actress Rima Kallingal in a simple ceremony conducted at the Kakkanad Registration office in Kochi.

Aashiq Abu is a member of Anbodu Kochi, a Facebook group that collaborates with the local government to collect and distribute relief supplies following natural disasters. In November of 2019, the Kochi Music Foundation, of which Aashiq Abu is a member, hosted a musical event titled “Karuna” in Kochi with the intention of donating the proceeds to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF) to assist flood victims. The delay in the office of the Chief Minister receiving the funds sparked controversy.

Aashiq Abu Film career

Abu made his directorial début in 2009 with the film Daddy Cool, starring Mammootty, after serving as Kamal’s assistant director for approximately five years. Salt N’ Pepper was his second film as a director. Prakash Raj has acquired the Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi adaptation rights to Salt N’ Pepper. 2012’s 22 Female Kottayam was followed by Da Thadiya, Gangster, and Rani Padmini. Aashiq Abu has also directed a short film for Mathrubhumi titled Lost in Bangalore. His 2017 release was Mayaanadhi. On June 7, 2019, his most recent film, Virus, was released. The film is based on the actual epidemic of the Nipah virus in Kerala in 2018.
