Billie Joe Armstrong is an American musician, singer, composer, music producer, and actor. He was born in Oakland, California, on February 17, 1972. He is the youngest of his five siblings and the son of Ollie Jackson and Andrew Marciano Armstrong. Aquarius is his zodiac sign, and he preaches agnosticism. Since his father was a jazz drummer who passed away when he was 10 years old, he had contact with the musical world from a very young age. At that age, he met his friend Mike Dirnt, with whom he performed heavy metal songs at home while wearing pyjamas. In high school, his music teacher requested that he perform “Look for Love” for Fiat Records, which he did.

Billie Joe Birthday

On his eleventh birthday, he received his first electric guitar, which he christened “Blue.” Later, accompanied by his childhood friend Mike Dirt and drummer John Kiffmeyer, he formed his first band, Sweet Children, which performed punk music. A day before his 18th birthday, he quit school to devote himself entirely to his band. He was able to secure a record deal with Lookout! Records and released his debut EP, “1,000 Hours.” Sweet Children was a success by 1990. They released the studio album “39/Smooth” and the EPs “Slappy” and “Sweet Children” in a single year. Armstrong met Adrienne Nesser, the woman who would become his wife four years later, due to a stroke of good fortune. In the same year, the band was forced to replace their drummer and hired Tré Cool, with whom they toured the United States while sleeping at the houses of some of their admirers. In 1991, Sweet Children changed its name to Green Day and released its third album, “Dookie,” which propelled them further into the limelight and allowed them to collaborate with notable bands and artists including Riverdales, Penelope Houston, and Iggy Pop. Green Day did not explore into the rock opera genre until 2004 with the release of “American Idiot,” their most successful album, which topped the charts in 26 countries.

After conquering the music industry, the band went into the small and large screen worlds, starring in a number of music videos. Armstrong contributed in television productions like “The Voice,” where he supervised Christina Aguilera’s squad, and “The Simpsons” animated film’s opening sequence. Since 1990, when he met his future wife at a concert in Minneapolis, his personal and professional lives have been intertwined. They were married in 1994 and had their first child, Joseph Marciano Armstrong, in 1995. In 1998, they welcomed Jakob Danger Armstrong, their second child.
