Tamia Monique Carter, better known as Flo Milli, was born in Mobile, Alabama on January 9, 2000. Her mother’s name is Monique Danielle. Millie did not reveal her father’s name, explaining that he had abandoned the family when she was seven years old. She showed an early interest in songwriting and composed her first song at age nine. At age 11, Milli began rapping a couple of years later. She was a member of the rap group Pink Mafia, formerly known as Real & Beautiful, for several years.

In 2015, she recorded and released her debut single, “No Hook.” Although she began releasing music on her SoundCloud and YouTube channels in 2017, it wasn’t until 2018 when she recorded and released her breakout single ‘Beef FloMix’ that she received her big break in the world of rap. The song went viral on multiple social media platforms and eventually made it onto the Viral 50 chart of music streaming service Spotify the following year. Consequently, she re-released a fully produced version of the song, and at the end of 2019, she signed with RCA Records.

2019 saw the continued release of singles by Milli. Midway through 2020, she released her debut mixtape titled “Ho, Why Are You Here?” The album was a success and was well-received by both critics and fans. She signed with a different record label, Pulse Music Group, later that year. In 2020, she also appeared in the music video for the song “Down” by rapper G-Eazy. She was nominated for “Best New Artist” at the BET Hip Hop Awards at the end of 2020. In 2021, she released another single, ‘Roaring 20s,’ for which she was nominated in the ‘Best New Artist’ category of the BET Hip Hop Awards. Later that year, the rapper was included in the Freshman Class of 2021 issue of the American hip hop magazine XXL.
