He dropped out of college to work for the National Youth Administration, but not long after, the government shut it down. As a result, he proceeded to play football with the Honolulu Bears in 1941. The following year, Robinson enlisted in the Army and went to Officer Candidate School. In 1944, he was honorably discharged.

Achievements

Robinson signed for the Royals, an associate team to the Brooklyn Dodgers, in 1945. He participated in the 1946 season as a player. In 1947, he transferred to the main squad. The number of fans who saw the Dodgers play rose after Robinson joined the team. Jackie Robinson rose to the position of best-paid Dodgers player by 1950. He would go on to help the Dodgers capture six league titles. 1956 saw Robinson’s retirement, shortly after his transfer to the New York Giants. In baseball, the number 42 shirt was retired after he retired. On October 24, 1972, he passed away.
