After completing his apprenticeship with Hammond, Keats matriculated as a medical student at Guy’s Hospital, presently referred to affectionately as King’s College London. His scholarly pursuits commenced at that institution in October 1815. He was hired as a wardrobe at the hospital within a month and subsequently served as a surgical assistant during procedures.

During this time, Keats maintained a successful academic trajectory. The occurrence had a profound impact on his life and significantly influenced his perception of the human condition. He experienced financial insecurity as a consequence of his father’s demise. His mother, Frances, remarried and entrusted the custody of her sons to a grandmother residing in the village of Edmonton. Before rumoredly developing feelings for Fanny Brawne, he had a romantic relationship with Isabella Jones prior to his tragic demise at the age of 25. Keats’s demise from tuberculosis, which also claimed his mother, put an end to his aspirations of matrimonially uniting with Ms. Brawne.

Alongside Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley, Keats is considered a prominent figure of the second generation of Romantic poets, notwithstanding the fact that his works were not published until four years prior to his demise. Despite the fact that his compositions encountered limited acclaim from critics during his lifetime, his standing elevated shortly after his demise.
