Brar made his acting debut in the 2011 comedy film “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” at the age of 11. In March 2011, he reprised his role as Chirag Gupta in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules,” the sequel to the original film. In October 2011, it was announced that he would reprise his role as Chirag in the 2012 release of the Wimpy Kid franchise’s third sequel, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.” In September 2011, Brar appeared on the Disney Channel comedy series “Jessie” as Ravi Ross. Brar appeared in the 2012 short film “Chilly Christmas” and provided the voice of a character in the 2014 feature film “Mr. Peabody & Sherman.” It was reported in February 2015 that Brar would reprise his role as Ravi Ross in the Jessie spinoff “Bunk’d” on the Disney Channel. In the Disney Channel Original Movie “Invisible Sister,” he portrayed George. Among the Disney Channel comedies in which he has appeared as a guest star are “Pair of Kings,” “Austin & Ally,” “Good Luck Charlie,” and “Lab Rats.” His latest appearance was in “Pacific Rim: Uprising” (2018).
Brar lived in the Los Angeles area with his parents and older sister until May 2019, when he moved in with fellow actors Cameron Boyce and Sophie Reynolds. He is active on social media and maintains his own website, karanbrar.com.
