Keshav Prasad Maurya Biography: Born on 7 May 1969, Keshav Prasad Maurya is the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He won the 2014 Indian general election in the Phulpur parliamentary constituency of the Allahabad district as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Early Years

On the first day of Chaitra, April 8, 2016, he was designated chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh. He participated in both the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. Born in 1969, in Sirathu in the Kausambhi district, adjoining Allahabad, Maurya went on to pursue Hindi Literature at the Hindu Sahitya Sammelan in Allahabad.

A career in Politics of Keshav Prasad Maurya

Since a young age, Maurya has held positions with the RSS and the VHP-Bajrang Dal, including those of Nagar Karyawah and VHP Pranth Sanghan Mantri. He contested the 2002, 2007, and 2012 assembly elections and was the incumbent MLA for the Sirathu assembly constituency before being elected to the Phulpur seat as a Member of Parliament in 2014 with an overwhelming five lakh votes and over 52 per cent of the vote. In April 2016, he was designated state president of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, and on March 18, 2017, he was appointed Uttar Pradesh’s deputy chief minister. He obtained the departments of public works (PWD), food processing, entertainment tax, and public enterprises.

Smt. Raj Kumari Devi Maurya, a Director, Accountant, and Partner at Jeevan Jyoti Clinic and Hospital, is his wife. The couple has two sons. He was the son of Shyam Lal Maurya.

  • In 2012, Keshav Prasad became the first BJP MLA from Sirathu Tahseel. It was the first time in Sirathu Tahseel’s history that a BJP MLA was elected. He lost the 2002 elections for assembly.
