Matt Ox Biography:

Early Life

In 2017, it was impossible to avoid the name Matt Ox. His sudden rise to fame following the release of his song “Overwhelming” propelled him from the obscure corners of Soundcloud to the attention of hip-hop enthusiasts nationwide. Upon first observation, Ox appeared to be just another young suburban man pretending to be a mobster. However, beneath the well constructed façade lay a talented lyricist who was far more skilled at poetry than most people his age.

Career

Ox was born on December 13, 2004, and he and his mother and aunts raised him in Lawncrest, Philadelphia. His uncle ran a small recording studio, so he taught him the fundamentals of music production and used his mother’s laptop for practice. Through one of his early singles posted to Soundcloud, artist F1lthy came across him. F1lthy went on to manage him and introduce him to his Working on Dying crew.

His subsequent song, “Low Key,” became an enormous hit for the Working on Dying Soundcloud channel and once more caught the interest of rappers and other musicians. He chose to act quickly, releasing “Michael Myers,” which within a few weeks of its upload received over 500,000 plays. He persisted in creating more and better content at a higher frequency as his brand grew. Millions of people watched the ‘This N That’ music video on YouTube. As he rose to fame in the hip-hop scene, well-known rappers like Chief Keef and XXXTentacion made offers to him.

Leaders in the industry noticed, and the media did too. His reputation and audience grew even more as a result of publications from “XXL,” “The New York Times,” and “Mashable.” He keeps putting out music and releasing singles.
