Harmon aims to be a role model for other women pursuing STEM careers, particularly Black and Filipino women like herself.
Tamia Hardy, Emma Knapp, Cassidy Myers, and Erin Wellman completed the top five. They were named first, second, third, and fourth runners-up, in that order. Lakyn will now represent “The Mountain State” in the Miss Teen USA 2023 competition, to be held at an undetermined date in Reno, Nevada.

“This is the most unreal sensation I’ve ever experienced in my life. Nevaeh shared on social media, “If you had asked me a year ago if I imagined myself winning, I would have told you you were crazy.”

Nevaeh Harmon was crowned Miss West Virginia USA 2023 on June 4 at West Virginia Wesleyan College’s Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts in Buckhannon.
The newly crowned Miss West Virginia USA is a model, a certified pharmacy technician, and a biochemistry major at Marshall University in Huntington.
Lakyn Campbell, age 18, of Parkersburg was crowned Miss West Virginia Teen USA 2023, while Baylee Jarrett and Kourtney Jones were named first and second runners-up, respectively. Elizabeth McDonald, Taylor Miller, and Taylor Holt rounded out the final six candidates.
Krystian Leonard (Miss USA 2022 Top 16 semifinalist) and Emma Kitchen respectively crowned their successors at the conclusion of the event.
