Aurora has released two EPs, “Shanti” in 2017 and “Moonstone” in 2020, in addition to a full-length album, “Lucid” in 2019. Aurora worked with record producer Everett Orr in 2015. In 2017, following the release of her debut EP, “Shanti,” her online fanbase grew rapidly. Aurora directed music videos that highlighted her Indian ancestry. She was featured in ModCloth’s summer 2018 “Say It Louder” campaign, which celebrated individuality and strong female musicians. She was featured alongside Lizzo, Awkwafina, and Hayley Kiyoko, as well as other outspoken female musicians. Aurora performed alongside H.E.R. and Toto at the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia, in March 2019.
On May 31, 2019, her debut album, “Lucid,” distributed by Empire Distribution, was released. In compositions like “Stronger” and “Salt Water,” she addressed sexuality, trauma healing, and spirituality within the context of her experience as a sexual assault and abuse survivor. The evaluations for Aurora’s debut album “Lucid” were overwhelmingly favorable. It was listed as one of the “Best Albums of 2019” by NPR. Noisey has selected “Stronger” by Aurora as one of the “100 Best Songs of 2019.” In January 2022, Aurora announced the publication of her second studio album, “Asha’s Awakening.” The concept album was composed through the eyes of a Punjabi space heroine. The album was preceded by the singles “Rush” and “Secret,” with American rapper Vince Staples on “Secret.” “Asha’s Awakening” was published to critical acclaim on February 11, 2022.
