Rob Lowe is a well-known Hollywood actor, famous for his roles in 1980s coming-of-age films and numerous other television series. Lowe was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, on March 17, 1964, under the sign of Pisces, and is of German-English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish descent. He is Barbara and Charles Davis Lowe’s son. Chad Lowe, his younger sibling, exists. In 1976, when he was 12 years old, he played a messenger in a production of “Sherlock Holmes.”

Three years later, in the American sitcom “A New Kind of Family,” Lowe made his television debut. (1979 to 1980). He then appeared in the 1983 television film Thursday’s Child, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe. However, Lowe’s breakthrough portrayal was in the film “The Outsiders.” (1983). It was the first of his successful Hollywood films, which would launch his career. He starred in the 1984 and 1985 romantic comedy films “The Hotel New Hampshire” and “St. Elmo’s Fire,” respectively. (1985). The films made him one of the most well-known members of the “Brat Pack,” a group of teenage actors who appeared in 1980s coming-of-age films. In addition to starring in similar films, he also appeared in stage performances and television programs.

Lowe appeared in the book adaptation miniseries “The Stand.” (1994). He returned to acting in television programs such as “The West Wing.” (1999-2006). His performance earned him nominations for one Primetime Emmy and two Golden Globes. He ventured into production with two cancelled drama series, “The Lyon’s Den” (2003) and “Dr. Vegas” (2004). In 2004, he starred in the television miniseries “Salem’s Lot.”

Lowe participated in the 2005 stage production of “A Few Good Men” and the 2005 miniseries “Beach Girls.” In 2006, he appeared on “Brothers and Sisters” and “The Friday Night Project” as a guest performer and host, respectively. For four seasons, he joined the cast of “Parks and Recreation” (2009-2015) in 2010. In addition, he is the author of two books: “Stories I Only Tell My Friends” (2011) and “Love Life.” (2014).

In 2015, Lowe provided his voice for “The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar,” a pilot TV movie, and proceeded to do so for the subsequent series. After starring in a roast program in 2016, Lowe and his two sons launched “The Lowe Files” (2017), a reality show in which they take road trips. In the meantime, he returned to production with the 2021 Netflix film “Dog Gone” and presently stars in “9-1-1: Lone Star.” (since 2019).

Lowe has served as the brand ambassador for major corporations such as K.F.C. and Atkins Nutritionals, starring in their advertising campaigns. In 2015, he established the men’s skincare brand Profile. He is married to Sheryl Berkoff, and the couple has two children.
