He began his professional tenure at the Rand-Whitney Group, a Worcester-based packaging company that he currently chairs. In 1972, he also founded International Forest Products, a paper commodity trading company. These are the two major paper packaging companies in the United States. The companies of Kraft have produced both corrugated and foldable cartons that are utilised by numerous other industries worldwide, such as the cosmetics, candy, and toy industries. Over time, the enterprise expanded into new areas of interest. He founded the Kraft Group in 1998. In 1985, Kraft paid $22 million for a horse racing facility adjacent to the New England Patriots stadium. Two years later, Kraft paid $172 million to acquire the football franchise from Orthwein. He made numerous investments to foster the team’s expansion. In 2017, Kraft purchased the Overwatch League’s Boston Uprising eSports franchise. In 2018, the team won the inaugural season of the competition. He established the New England Revolution, a Major League Soccer soccer franchise. In 2019, he appointed Bruce Arena as the team’s head coach, and in 2020, they participated in their first playoffs.

Additionally, Kraft established the Kraft Foundation, which has donated millions of dollars to philanthropic causes such as education, the protection of children and women, and American and Israeli causes. He was married to Myra Nathalie Hiatt for 47 years until her death in 2011; together, they had four children. Kraft recently married ophthalmologist Dana Blumberg.
