Scott Weiland Biography: The late American songwriter and vocalist Scott Weiland was widely recognized for his commanding vocal abilities. Scott Richard Kline was born in California, United States, on October 27, 1967, to Kent Kline and Sharon Williams. At age five, following his parents’ divorce, his stepfather, David Weiland, adopted him legally. Following his graduation from Huntington, Ohio, he registered at Orange Coast College in California.

The ensemble Mighty Joe Young was established in 1989 by Weiland, bassist Robert DeLeo, and an additional member. They converted from a conflict group to the Stone Temple Pilots. “Core,” their debut album, was an enormous success in 1992. “Purple,” their subsequent studio album, was released in 1994 and served to solidify their standing. The group received their inaugural Grammy Award for ‘Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocals’ for the album’s number-one single, ‘Plush.’ Weiland and Vincent Indrizzio were co-founders of the alternative rock ensemble Magnificent Bastards in 1995. He rejoined the Stone Temple Pilots the following year, and the group published their third studio album, “Tony Music…Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop,” in 1996. Unfortunately, Weiland acquired a drug addiction problem around this time and was forced to enter rehabilitation. 1998 saw the publication of his debut solo album, entitled “12 Bar Blues.”

Weiland was a member of the Stone Temple Pilots from 1999 to 2001, until 1997, when internal strife prompted him to resign. He joined erstwhile Guns N’ Roses members in 2003 and, along with Slash, Matt Sorum, and others, co-founded Velvet Revolve. 2004 saw the publication of their debut album, “Contraband,” which was an enormous success. The album’s single ‘Slither’ and Velvet Revolver shared Weiland’s second Grammy Award for ‘Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal’. Weiland collaborated with Guns N’ Roses on singles and albums between 2005 and 2008. Reuniting with the Stone Temple Pilots, he embarked on a tour of the United States. During a 2015 tour with the Wildabouts, Weiland was discovered deceased from an unintentional overdose of a substance.
