Ravichandran continues to operate his father’s production company, Sri Eswari Productions, as a producer. Fans have affixed the nickname “Crazy Star” to Ravichandran’s name, giving him this common moniker.
V. Ravichandran is an accomplished Kannada actor. Born in 1961, the 56-year-old actor is renowned for his varied performances. At age 21, he made his acting debut in Khadeema Kallaru, in which he portrayed an adversary for the first time. His second film, Chakravyuh, was released in 1983. He then appeared in a number of films with multiple stars before starring in the 1987 blockbuster Premloka. He also served as a juror on Season 2 of Dancing Star on Colours Kannada.
Ravichandran, known as “The Show Man” in Kannada cinema, began his career as a juvenile actor in the films Dhoomakethu and Kula Gourava, both of which starred Dr Rajkumar. He made his début as a producer with the 1982 film Prema Matsara. He debuted as an antagonist in Khadeema Kallaru (1982), followed by Chakravyuha (1983), and then appeared in the blockbuster Premaloka (1987). Initially, Ravichandran acted in and directed films under his own banner, Eswari Productions. He has collaborated with notable directors such as Rajendra Singh Babu and D. Rajendra Babu, culminating in a number of successful films, including Naanu Nanna Hendthi (1985), Ramachaari (1991), Sri Ramachandra (1992), Annayya (1993), and Yaare Neenu Cheluve (1998).
Shanti Kranti (1991) was the most expensive Kannada film ever made, with prominent Tamil and Telugu roles. Ramachaari (1991), Halli Meshtru (1992), and Putnanja (1995) are a few additional blockbuster films of note. Ravichandran and Hamsalekha worked together on multiple films, but their partnership ultimately failed. In 2002, he began shooting the ambitious film Ekangi in an Rs 80 lakh glass mansion. In 2004, he founded Eswari Audio, which subsequently became Eswari Entertainment, and was recognised as the state’s Best Musical Director.
He introduced big-budget films and digital grading technology to Kannada cinema and began selling music cassettes via cable operators in an effort to combat piracy. Ravichandran also appeared as a judge in the second season of Dancing-star on Colours Kannada.
