Candidates should not equate percentile score with percentile score. The percentile score is based on the performance of all the candidates who have appeared in the exam for that shift. The marks obtained for each shift of the examinees in the percentile are converted into a scale of 100 to 0. Percentage means how many marks have been scored in 100 in each subject, whereas percentile means how many candidates whose marks are less or equal to you (less or equal raw marks). Percentile means how many students got more marks than you.

In a way, the percentile score shows that what percentage of you have scored more marks in the exam than the candidates. For example, if your percentile is 70 percent, it means that you have scored more marks than 70 percent of the candidates.
