AMU: Continuing Medical Education-cum-Awareness programme on Pharmacovigilance

Dr. S Javed Ali (Convener) conducted the programme while Dr Mursaleen Naseer proposed a vote of thanks.

The Department of Moalejat, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a Continuing Medical Education-cum-Awareness programme in an online mode on Pharmacovigilance of ASU and H drugs for AYUSH Professionals, students and other stakeholders on September 29.

In his introductory remarks, Prof. Tanzeel Ahmad (Organizing Secretary, CME and Coordinator, PPvC) said that the programme is aimed at creating awareness about the Pharmacovigilance of ASU and H drugs and inculcating the habit of reporting Adverse drugs reaction (ADRs) among AYUSH Professionals and stakeholders.

Prof. Shagufta Aleem (Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine and Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College), in her presidential address, congratulated the organisers and urged the participants to attend the CME with a deep interest to attain advanced knowledge on the subject.

Prof Tabassum Latafat (Organizing Chairperson, CME and Chairperson, Department of Moalejat) said that the Department of Moalejat has been designated as the Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre (PPvC), under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

She said that CME consisted of two guest lectures, one by Dr Mohammad Khalid (Assistant Drug Controller (Unani) Government of Delhi) on “Relevant provisions of Unani Medicine in Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act and rules made thereunder”.

Another lecture was delivered by Prof. M A Quamri (NIUM, Bangalore) on the “Role of Pharmacovigilance in Reporting Medication Error”.
