Nursery Teacher Candidates Demand: The Allahabad High Court has issued notice to the Central and State Government and the Basic Education Council on the petition filed for providing compulsory and free education to children below the age of six years. The court has given all of them six weeks to respond.
Justice Vivek Verma has given this order on the petition filed by Usha Gupta and others. It has been said in the petition that under the directions given by the Supreme Court in the Unnikrishnan case and the National Education Policy 2020, the state government should be directed to make arrangements for providing pre-nursery education in the primary schools of the state. In this, a demand has been made to provide free and compulsory education to the children below the age of six years. The petitioners say that they have Nursery Teacher Education Training Certificate, so they should be given appointment in Nursery School and pay scale similar to that of assistant teachers of schools. The High Court will hear the matter after six weeks.
