FRC fixes ad hoc fees structure of 101 private engg colleges

The committee had sent an invitation to the diploma, degree, engineering, pharmacy, MBA, and MCA colleges to submit proposals for a one-year ad hoc pricing structure.

FRC fixes ad hoc fees structure: On Wednesday, the state’s technical fee regulating council unveiled the proposed fee structure for 101 private engineering institutions for the academic year 2023–2024, which included a more than 5% increase. The ad hoc price structure has been issued as a temporary measure because the committee is currently working to set new fee structures for the three-year cycle from 2023–24 to 2025–26. However, admissions are already closed and academic sessions are about to start.

The FRC also disclosed the price schedules for 17 newly founded engineering institutions in addition to these colleges.

The committee had sent an invitation to the diploma, degree, engineering, pharmacy, MBA, and MCA colleges to submit proposals for a one-year ad hoc pricing structure. The committee has invited institutions to submit applications before June 1, 2024 in order to set the regular three-year cycle price structures for the older colleges. Eight of the older colleges, which is the committee’s typical base increase, had simply requested a 5% fee increase. The committee had authorised the fee increase for these eight colleges in July.

According to the committee’s statement, the institutions will be required to adjust the differential amount if the final three-year cycle price structure differs in any way.

According to committee sources, the failure of several colleges to provide the committee with the necessary financial information has caused the delay in determining the new three-year cycle tuition structure.
