Fresh MBBS And BDS Students Take The Hippocratic Oath at AMU

He stated that students have the opportunity to learn a great deal from their seniors and patients in addition to instructors.

Fresh MBBS And BDS Students Take The Hippocratic Oath: 190 newly admitted MBBS and BDS students of Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Dr. ZA Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University, donned the Hippocratic flag and took the famous Hippocratic Oath for dedicated and selfless treatment of patients during a spectacular white coat ceremony today.

Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, AMU Vice Chancellor and principal guest, stated that the medical profession is the most revered profession in the world, and as such, doctors have the responsibility to treat their patients with great care and compassion.

According to him, the number of doctors in the country is still disproportionately low in relation to the population, and the absence of resources for basic equipment in health facilities exacerbates the problem. In this situation, it is a source of pride that our university has a sufficient number of MBBS and BDS seats and that we are entrusted with the responsibility of producing competent physicians. He anticipated that medical professionals from AMU would serve patients with the utmost care and dedication, bringing honour to the J.N. Medical College and the university.

The guest of honour, Dr. B. Srinivas, Deputy Director General, Directorate of General Health Services, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, stated that the medical profession is arguably the most sought-after profession in India, and that the number of students taking the medical entrance exam is growing exponentially each year. Approximately 22 lakh pupils took the NEET this year alone, he added.

Prof. Veena Maheshwari, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, stated that the white coat is a sign of respect, and that medical students must treat their patients with the uttermost courtesy and affection while maintaining their personal dignity. She stated that when patients come to the hospital in pain, the doctor’s affectionate demeanour and gentle language aids in reducing their pain more quickly, in addition to the appropriate treatment.
