Garcetti stated that educational exchange programmes alter lives because they add a new dimension to learning. “The education collaborations are based on four Ps: peace, planning for prosperity, and people, which enhances the learning. In recent years, more Indian students have studied in the United States. Over 21,000 Indian students travelled to the United States last year, making them the most numerous international students in American universities, said Garcetti, highlighting the shared cultural and democratic values of the United States and India.

Assistant Secretary Lee Satterfield of the US Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, who is in India prior to the G20 Summit, applauded the 70-year-old Fullbright initiative that has helped strengthen educational ties between India and the United States.
