IIT Jammu launches B.Tech in Mathematics & Computing: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has introduced a state-of-the-art undergraduate programme, B.Tech in Mathematics & Computing, in response to the expanding demand for professionals with expertise in both Mathematics and Computer Science. Recognising the intricate relationship between Mathematics and the rapidly expanding disciplines of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Data Science (DS).

The B.Tech in Mathematics & Computing is a four-year programme designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the interdependence of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Students will delve into a variety of disciplines, including statistics, real and complex analysis, and optimisation techniques, he added. “At the same time, they will receive a comprehensive education in essential computer science topics for their chosen field.”
In addition, the programme allows students to personalise their learning experience by providing an abundance of electives from a variety of disciplines, allowing them to investigate their specific areas of interest and ignite their passion for particular topics.
The selection process will be based on the valid rank obtained in the JEE (Advanced) National Entrance Exam 2022, a spokesperson for IIT Jammu said.
The programme serves as a springboard for young minds to shape the future of AI and contribute to its transformative force across a variety of industries, he asserted. This, he said, makes the career prospects for graduates of this programme vast and promising.
