Here are the dates for the LAUSD school year 2023-2024, as approved by the district on March 27, 2023 and updated on June 2, 2023. Note that the winter recess has returned to a three-week duration.
First day: Monday, August 14, 2023, is the first day of the 2023-2024 academic year.
Final day: Tuesday, June 11, 2024 is the final day of the 2023-2024 academic year.

From November 20, 2023, to November 24, 2023, Thanksgiving Break is a full week of break.

In the next two school years, the three-week winter vacation will return. The district and the union will negotiate the subsequent steps. The winter vacation will commence on December 18, 2023, and classes will resume on January 8, 2024.
LAUSD Updated Calendar 2023-24: Spring Break will occur from March 25 to March 29, 2024. The children will return to school on April 2, 2024, as Cesar E. Chavez’s birthday falls on April 1, 2024, thereby extending spring vacation.
