NEET PG 2022: Today Supreme Court to hear pleas challenging Rs 8 lakh income limit for EWS

NEET PG: Supreme Court will hear today in the matter of 10 percent reservation for EWS category in NEET PG admission. The Supreme Court is hearing a petition challenging the criteria of income limit of Rs 8 lakh fixed for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). Last year, some medical aspirants had filed a petition against the 10 per cent quota for EWS in All India Quota in NEET PG counseling and the age limit set for it.

On May 19, a bench of Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Surya Kant and Justice PS Narasimha had said that the matter would be heard by a three-judge bench. It is not possible to hear it during the summer vacation. Therefore, she will hear the matter when the court opens after the summer vacations.

On February 14, the top court had refused to entertain a plea seeking clarification on the application of EWS criteria of income of Rs 8 lakh in NEET-PG 2022-23. The court had said that it is looking into the matter and whatever decision it takes, it will be applicable.

NEET PG 2022 counseling from 1st September
The counseling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Post Graduate) will start from September 1. Official sources said on Saturday that students who qualify the NEET-PG 2022 exam can fill their choices regarding courses and colleges during the counseling process for admission to All India quota seats, state medical and dental colleges and central and deemed universities. Will be able Officials said that PG counseling will start simultaneously for 50 per cent seats in all central universities, deemed universities and all India quota seats and 50 per cent seats in state quota of medical and dental colleges. He informed that the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health will conduct the counseling in online mode.
