NEET Result 2022: How Tanishka became AIR 1 despite scoring same marks as three other candidates

But instead of declaring the four students as toppers, NTA gave rank 1, rank 2 and rank 3 and rank 4 to the four students based on its tie-breaking formula.

NEET UG Result 2022: This time top four students got equal marks in NEET. All four scored 99.9997733 (715 marks) percentile marks. But instead of declaring the four students as toppers, NTA gave rank 1, rank 2 and rank 3 and rank 4 to the four students based on its tie-breaking formula.

Tanishka of Rajasthan topped All India by securing Rank 1. Delhi’s Vats Ashish Batra got rank 2, Karnataka’s Hrishikesh Nagbhushan Ganguly got rank 3 and Karnataka’s Rucha Pawashe got rank 4. This time NTA had added six new things in its tie breaking formula so that students with equal marks do not get the same rank. Whereas last year there were only three things in the tie breaking formula of NTA.

The reason behind adding six new factors to the tie-breaking formula was that the NTA said that it is very important for each student to have a different rank. Till last year there were three factors in the tie breaking formula, yet last year the top three students were in a tie position and all three had to give rank 1. Same rank of students is not good position. Seats are very limited in medical colleges, so it is necessary for everyone to have different ranks.

Last year till 2021 this formula

1- The one who will get more marks in Biology (Botany and Zoology), he will be placed higher in the rank.
2- If the rank is not decided by the factor of biology, then the marks of chemistry will be seen. Whoever gets more marks in Chemistry will be placed higher in the rank.
3- Thereafter the candidate whose ratio of attempted wrong answers and correct answers in all subjects is less, will be placed higher.

By year 2022, this formula

1- The one who will get more marks in Biology (Botany and Zoology), he will be placed higher in the rank.
2- If the rank is not decided by the factor of biology, then the marks of chemistry will be seen. Whoever gets more marks in Chemistry will be placed higher in the rank.
3- After this the marks of Physics will be seen. The one who will get more marks in Physics, he will be placed higher in the rank.
4- The one who has given less number of wrong answers than the correct answers will be put up.
After this, the candidate whose ratio of wrong answers attempted and correct answers in Biology (Botany and Zoology) is less, will be placed higher.
6- After this the candidate whose ratio of wrong attempted and correct answers in Chemistry is less, will be placed higher.

7- The candidate whose percentage of wrong attempted in Physics will be less.
8- Candidate with older age will be placed higher.
9- Rank will be decided on the basis of NEET application number ascending order (ascending order).
