UGC Revises Fellowship Amounts for JRF, SRF, Post Doctoral; Know Details

The JRF stipend for the Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child increased from INR 31,000 per month to INR 37,000.

UGC Revises Fellowship Amounts: At its 572nd meeting, conducted on September 20, 2023, the University Grants Commission (UGC) reviewed and approved the revised Fellowship amount rates for the UGC Fellowship Schemes.

The revised Fellowship terms will take effect on January 1, 2023. Other terms and conditions will remain unchanged in accordance with UGC scheme regulations.

UGC Revises Fellowship Amounts Specifics

For Senior Research Fellowship in Science, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the monthly stipend increased to INR 42,000 from INR 35,000, and for Junior Research Felloship in Science, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the amount increased to INR 37,000 per month for two years from INR 31,000 per month for two years.

The JRF stipend for the Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child increased from INR 31,000 per month to INR 37,000. Similarly, the SRF fee rose from INR 35,000 to INR 42,000.Post Doctoral Fellowship for women increased to INR 58,000 per month from INR 47,000 per month for the first year, INR 61,000 per month from INR 49,000 per month for the second year, and INR 67,000 per month from INR 54,000 per month for the third year and beyond.

Dr DS Kothari Post Doctoral Fellowship – For Higher Post-Doctoral Fellowships, the stipend increased to INT 67,000 from INR 54,000, and for Post-Doctoral Fellowship, the stipend increased to INR 58,000 per month from INR 47,000 per month for the first year, INR 61,000 per month from INR 49,000 per month for the second year, and INR 67,000 per month from INR 54,000 per month for the third year and beyond.The revised fellowship rates in the designated UGC programmes will only apply to existing recipients.
