In the upcoming months, the University Grants Commission hopes to publish more than 1,500 books in various Indian languages. PM Modi announced 100 books in 12 Indian languages. It  includes Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. It will happen during the opening session of the second Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam. He also expressed the hope that universities will play a key role in creating high-quality textbooks. He request them to  help teaching-learning materials in Indian languages as well.

Speaking more specifically about the initiatives made by the expert committee headed by Nageswar Rao, the vice chancellor of the Indira Gandhi National Open University. He confesses to promote Indian languages in higher education, UGC chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar said. “Translation of books into Indian languages will help institutions develop high-quality material and increase access to higher education.” “A team of subject experts, academics, and translators is also being formed across India to prepare textbooks in Indian languages,” he stated. He also adds that PM Modi is determined to make country’s future bright by providing proper education to every learning citizen of India.

To preserve the calibre of the translation job, thorough instructions have been distributed to all colleges for book translation. He further explains how this new strategy will help students on building their careers. Paying attention to all the main language UGC took this decision. The publication will start soon and will be implemented for new academic year stating that it will enhance student’s vocabulary. It will also create a sense of connectivity to their own native language and culture helping students to grow in their academic sphere.
