Vikas Divyakirti of Drishti IAS coaching launched his YouTube channel, know why

Dr. Vikas Divyakirti, the founder and director of Drishti IAS Coaching Center (Drishti IAS), who recently made headlines for his controversial statement about Mata Sita, is back in the spotlight. Vikas Divyakirti, who is well-known for teaching UPSC Civil Services Examination candidates in a simple, easy, and unique manner, has launched his own YouTube channel. You can imagine the popularity of this channel, which was launched on November 26th, Constitution Day.
More than 1.6 million, or more than 16 lakh people, have subscribed to this YouTube channel in just two weeks. Vikas Divyakeerti explained in the first video posted on his YouTube channel why, despite being a Drishti IAS YouTube channel, he started a separate YouTube channel under his own name. What was the purpose of it?

‘For a long time, there was a desire expressed by all of you friends that I should interact with you on a regular basis and make videos, especially on the subjects of philosophy, psychology, and politics,’ he writes in the video description. In this context, I am pleased to inform you that, in honour of Constitution Day, I have launched my personal YouTube channel, ‘Vikas Divyakirti.’ In this introductory video, I discuss the purpose and outline of this channel to give you a clear picture of how this platform can benefit you!

Purpose of having a separate YouTube channel.

According to Vikas Divyakirti, it was necessary to start it for a variety of reasons. He stated that in recent years, short clips of his videos have become quite popular on the internet. As a result, people who have nothing to do with the IAS exam have become acquainted with him. ‘Aside from IAS aspirants, many such people began contacting him who have nothing to do with IAS but started saying that we would love to hear from you or would love to hear your views on this subject, someone else,’ he said. I’d like to hear your thoughts on the matter. Many people have asked about philosophy, particularly Indian philosophy, psychology, and many other topics, and they want us to listen and talk about them. Drishti IAS now has its own world, which belongs to Civil Services examinees. It is intended for IAS aspirants. If everything is not covered in the IAS syllabus, why discuss it? So, whether the audience is interested in IS preparation or not, I’d like to create my own corner in the world of social media where I can share my thoughts. I can express myself on this channel without regard for the IAS syllabus. Here, I can also discuss issues that I often avoid discussing while teaching. While teaching, I only tell them what they need to know for their exam. But I can express myself here.

In the midst of the Vikas Divyakirti controversy, an IAS officer gave this advice to UPSC candidates.

‘On this channel, I will be neutral and maintain my position on various issues so that we all have an opportunity to discuss,’ he said. If necessary, I will bring other people onto this channel who can discuss both sides.

‘Here I can put my point in authentic form,’ he said. I should not be concerned that things are being destroyed, altered, or manufactured. Whatever I say on this channel will be my genuine opinion on any subject. Do not trust anyone who cuts a clip and shows it to you in class; I will be fully responsible for what I say on this channel.

He stated that the deep things of philosophy, psychology, and literature will be explained to the people through this channel in simple and easy language.

Dr. Vikas Divyakeerti was born on December 26, 1973, in a Haryana middle-class family. His parents were both Hindi literature professors. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Delhi University. He then pursued an MA, MPhil, and PhD in Hindi. D, as well as a postgraduate degree in English-Hindi translation from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. He passed the UPSC exam on his first attempt in 1996. He was appointed as an IAS officer and assigned to the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, he was uninterested in the officer’s work. He left his position after only one year. Dr. Vikas Divyakeerti founded Drishti IAS Coaching Institute in 1999.
