Yasin Malik accused of killing IAF personnel refuses court’s legal aid offer

Jailed separatist leader Yasin Malik turned down legal aid for hearing in the killing of 4 Indian Air Force personnel in 1990. The JKLF Chief reiterated his demand for physical appearance in the case. Malik appeared for the hearing via video conference from Delhi’s Tihar Jail where he is currently lodged in a terror-funding case. The special court in Jammu has asked him to submit his stand in writing on the next date of hearing which is on the third week of September. The court also said that there were clear directions from the high court for producing the accused in all cases through video conferencing. The trial is in connection with the attack on IAF personnel in Srinagar in 1990 in which 4 were killed and 40 others injured.
