Wave Five Contents

The character Petey Piranha is one of the thrilling additions to Wave 5. To access the Wave 5 courses, the Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass must be downloaded.

This pass can be purchased independently from the Nintendo eShop for £22.49/$24.49. Alternately, members of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will receive the Booster Course Pass at no additional cost.

Wave Six and Upcoming Updates

After phase 5, one more phase of DLC content is forthcoming. However, the Wave 6 release date has not yet been announced.

Booster Course Pass cycles are typically distributed every three to four months. On the basis of this pattern, Wave 6 is likely to appear later this year, in October or November.

Total New Tracks

When you purchase the Booster Course Pass, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will receive a staggering 48 additional courses. This means that the number of circuits in the game will be doubled, providing even more racing variety.

Support for DLC

The game now supports the paid downloadable content entitled “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass, Wave 5.” This DLC consists of two containers, eight courses, and three additional characters.

General Improvements

  • Certain character and vehicle customizations have received performance enhancements, augmenting their overall gameplay experience.
  • The duration of invulnerability for certain characters has been adjusted to ensure an equitable balance during races.
  • The method for selecting random items in races with Custom Items enabled and fewer than four participants has been altered.
  • The warning system for Red Shells and Spiny Shells approaching from behind has been improved, giving players more time to react.
  • Red Shell and Spiny Shell warnings now take precedence over other warnings, ensuring that participants are better informed.
  • Warnings are no longer displayed when a Red Shell is targeting an opponent, preventing distracting interruptions.
  • In the Grand Prix, players can now use the touchscreen to control the L/R buttons on the class selection and course selection displays.
  • The occurrence rate of Mirror and 200cc races has been decreased in the Global and Regional configurations.

Fixed Problems

  • A communication error that occurred when a character caught a boomerang while a Boo brought an item has been resolved.
  • The player can now toss an equipped item while simultaneously catching a boomerang.
  • The graph for the parameters of the Mii Heavy weight class now accurately reflects their abilities.
  • When online opponents use a Bullet Bill, a warning now appears.
  • The use of a Super Star, Bullet Bill, or Boo no longer causes the kart to spiral out of control or collide with obstacles.
  • In Wii Mushroom Gorge, getting trapped between a cliff and a small mushroom and being unable to move has been fixed.
  • In GBA Riverside Park, transforming into a Bullet Bill in front of the goal will no longer cause you to veer off course.
