Exam tips: How to score 200+ marks in JEE Main 2022

The first step needed is to form a study schedule. While preparing, it is important to pay attention to all the subjects. Make a proper calendar and follow it religiously.

Exam tips: The JEE Main exam is your golden ticket to becoming an engineer in India. It is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency to offer admission to BE/BTech, at the IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology), NITs (National Institute of Technology), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) across the country.

Here are some tips to score 200+ in JEE:

1) PREPARE A STUDY SCHEDULE: The first step needed is to form a study schedule. While preparing, it is important to pay attention to all the subjects. Make a proper calendar and follow it religiously. Make a separate notebook for each subject, having all the important points and formulae. Revising through self-written notes is very helpful during JEE preparation.

2) FOCUS ON THE BASICS: You cannot get a good score without having clarity about the basics of all subjects. Start with the basics and then move forward. Even if you think you know the concepts well, it is always recommended to reiterate them.

3) CHOOSE THE RIGHT STUDY MATERIAL: Study only the relevant material and do not refer to too many books. Right from understanding the basics, to solving complex problems, the study material that you use plays an important role. Read NCERT textbooks to cover JEE’s main topics, especially for Chemistry. For Mathematics and Physics, more rigorous questions are asked for which you can refer to some good books.

4) ATTEMPT MOCK TESTS AND PAST YEARS’ PAPERS: Solving past years’ papers and mock tests is an important part of your preparation. Analyse your performance in tests. Make note of the mistakes and rectify them before attempting the next test.

5) STAY UPDATED: You should be aware of the latest updates about the examination. You should have accurate information about the exam pattern, syllabus, marks and exam dates.

6) KEEP YOURSELF MOTIVATED: The syllabus of JEE main is vast and thus it is important that you stay motivated throughout the journey. Focus on what you can do tomorrow, the coming week, then next week. Take small steps, celebrate your accomplishments, and keep improving. Also, take short breaks and have some fun. This would keep you relaxed and stress free and will eventually improve your efficiency.

7) HEALTH & NUTRITION: We all know that eating a balanced diet, exercising, and getting plenty of rest are key to maintaining good health. If you are not healthy, you won’t be able to perform well in the examination. Never overstress yourself because of your studies and continue doing other activities too while preparing for JEE Main.

8) REVISION IS IMPORTANT IN THE LAST MONTH BEFORE THE EXAM: Create a study plan for revision. Try to revisit all concepts and basics along with important formulae, chemical equations, etc. Try to stay relaxed and do not stress about the exam. Stay confident about your preparation and avoid all urges to revisit your weak areas as they might dampen your confidence. Focus on your strengths instead and ensure that you are in a positive frame of mind.

9) STAY CALM: On the day of the exam get a good night’s sleep before the exam and wake up fresh. Reach the examination centre a little early so that you have enough time to relax before the exam begins. A fresh mind thinks better. Don’t let any negative thoughts affect you in any way and give your best. Stay cool, calm and focused. Enjoy doing the exam. Don’t treat it as a life-changing event. Remember that it is only an exam and not a true reflection of who you are and what you may become.

10) DO NOT WASTE TOO MUCH TIME ON ONE PARTICULAR QUESTION: If you are not able to solve a problem, do not waste excessive time on it. Leave the question and move ahead to the next one. The rank of a student depends on how many correct answers are given by him/her. Try to solve questions with accuracy and avoid guess work as there is negative marking applicable in the examination.
