The Madrassa Survey in Uttar Pradesh has been completed in all 75 districts of the state. According to the data uncovered, over 16 lakh students were registered in approximately 8500 madrassas that were not recognised by the Uttar Pradesh Government or the Uttar Pradesh Board of Madrasa Education.

As the survey nears completion, it has been discovered that 8,496 madrassas are not recognised. According to local media, these madrassas have over 16 lakh students enrolled. There were 7,189 unrecognised madrassas in October 2022.

In Uttar Pradesh, 60 of the 75 districts have submitted their findings. The remaining 15 districts must submit their findings by November 15, 2022. After all of the findings are reported, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is expected to make a decision on the unrecognised madrassas.

The UP Government launched the Madrassa Survey on September 10, 2022, and plans to complete its analysis by next week, November 15, 2022.
Furthermore, the UP Board of Madrasa Education recognises and registers approximately 16,513 madrassas. The UP Government provides grants to 560 of these madrassas. More than 20 lakh students are said to be enrolled in these recognised madrassas.

According to Iftikhar Ahmed Javed, Chairman of the UP Madrassa Education Board, the board will work to assist students and improve their future. “After the survey, we will clean the system and help our madrasa students compete with mainstream students,” Javed added to reporters.

Uttar Pradesh decided to conduct the Madrassa Survey in order to work toward providing better education, health care, and security to minority students. The final decision on unrecognised madrassas is expected next week.
