Michael, the second child of Martin Luther King Sr., adopted the name Martin Luther King Jr. M.L.K. was fortunate to have been born into a middle-class family with financial stability. He had more opportunities and a better education than other children of his race. M.L.K. recognised his good fortune and desired for his fellow black people to have the same opportunities he had.

At the beginning of his education, King was by no means an exceptional student. However, this changed once he began his studies at Crozer. He became an avid theology and philosophy reader. During his time at Crozer, he learned about the pacifist beliefs of Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian nationalist movement against the British.

The Montgomery Bus Boycott incident of 1955 brought Martin Luther King Jr. to the frontier of the nation. His campaign against the practise of segregating black and white passengers on buses was successful. The whites required the blacks to vacate their seats. The campaign was successful, as the Supreme Court’s ruling made discrimination on public transportation systems illegal. M.L.K. created campaigns against civil injustice for the remainder of his life. The Birmingham conflicts elevated Martin Luther King Jr. to national prominence and compelled the federal government to pass the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

MLK’s life is a tale of perseverance, determination, and conviction. He motivated the entire globe to celebrate diversity and combat oppression. Human Rights Day in Idaho is a commemoration of his legacy.
