The background of Make the First Move Day

Bullying can occur in a variety of settings, including schools, workplaces, and other public areas. Anti-bullying awareness and anti-bullying movements in the United States can be traced to the early to mid-1990s. Several U.S. states began to contemplate anti-bullying legislation at that time, as this issue grew in significance and frequency.

In 1999, Georgia was the first state to approve legislation against bullying. Since then, all U.S. states and several other nations have passed anti-bullying legislation. In addition, numerous anti-bullying programmes have been developed and implemented with the aim of eradicating bullying and developing recovery treatments for bullying victims. These programmes are designed to mitigate the effects of multiple bullying-related issues.

The concept behind Making the First Move Day is that victims of bullying are frequently reluctant to discuss their experiences and seek professional assistance. As a result, assisting victims of bullying is the first and most crucial stage in their recovery. As a result, anti-bullying programmes will undergo substantial growth.

Greshun de Bouse, an entrepreneur and anti-bullying activist, founded First Move Life Coaching in 2018, a company that specialises in anti-bullying programmes and recovery coaching. In the same year, this company established the first observance of Making the First Move Day. One of the primary objectives of this annual event is to encourage victims of bullying to share their stories. As such, it can be a significant step in the development of anti-bullying movements and related initiatives.
