National Dean Day occurs annually on August 10 and honours those with the name. Dean is a masculine given name, middle name, surname, and in some cases, stage name. It can be traced back to Europe. The English surname Deane is derived from the Anglo-Saxon word denu, which means valley. As a teenager, Kamen was already compensated for his concepts. Local bands and museums paid him to construct their illumination and sound systems. Before graduating from high school, he attained an annual income of $60,000 thanks to such endeavours.

The Segway PT is Kamen’s most famous creation; it is an electric, self-balancing, computer-controlled human transporter with gyroscopic stabilisation. Segway is balanced on two parallel wheels and is controlled by body weight shifts. Among many other inventions, Kamen possesses patents for the iBOT, an all-terrain electric wheelchair, a drug infusion pump, and a water purification system. His greatest accomplishment is F.I.R.S.T. (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). This organisation was founded by him in 1989 with the intention of increasing students’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Throughout his career, Kamen won multiple accolades. The 5th Annual Heinz Award in Technology, the Economy, and Employment in 1999 and the National Medal of Technology from then-President Bill Clinton in 2000 are examples. 2005 saw his induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame for the AutoSyringe he invented.

David Dean Rusk is yet another notable person. From 1961 to 1969, he served as U.S. Secretary of State under presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. After Cordell Hull, he was the second longest-serving Secretary of State. In the 1930s, he briefly served in the Army reserves before holding numerous political positions prior to becoming Secretary of State. After a lengthy and challenging career, he retired on January 20, 1969.
