National Mulligan Day 2023: Date, Background And Quotes

Everyone has the right to a second opportunity. Celebrate National Mulligan Day on October 17 and take solace in the fact that if at first you don’t succeed, you’ll get another chance. National Mulligan Day pertains to any endeavour for which you would like a “do-over,” despite the fact that it is most commonly associated with a “freebie” after a poor golf shot. Mulligans are for those with the determination to persevere through life’s misfortunes. Let’s be honest: occasionally, we all need a do-over.

The Background of National Mulligan Day

In 1930s, sJohn A. “Buddy” Mulligan, a locker room attendant at Essex Fells C.C., New Jersey, is credited by some golf historians with coining the term. The United States Golf Association asserts that prevalent use of the term began in the 1940s. In July 1985, journalist Don Mackintosh interviewed David Mulligan for his column “Around the Sport Circuit,” during which David affirmed rumours regarding his “additional shots.”
