On April 28, 1995, Marvel employees created National Superhero Day to honour everyone’s favourite superhero. We all know that villains do not deserve their own day, so this is only for superheroes. Nevertheless, the purpose of superhero day is to recognise those who serve and protect while combating evil. Regardless of who your favourite hero is, honouring the real or fictional individuals who inspire us on April 28 is a worthwhile cause.

If you’re unfamiliar with Marvel Comics, consider all the childhood superheroes you loved (and presumably still do). These characters are from Marvel comics, the same company that created “The Fantastic Four,” “The Avengers,” and “X-Men.” Nevertheless, Marvel superheroes are not the only ones in existence. If you’re a devotee of Batman, Wonder Woman, or Superman, you’ll be pleased to know that these superheroes were all created by DC Comics and are celebrated on this day.
Did you know that in 1936, the first superhero was created? Phantom was his moniker, and he debuted with his own comic strip in an American newspaper. This was the earliest known publication of a superhero, and today there are hundreds of well-known heroes that everyone adores.
National Superhero Day also celebrates the everyday heroes we look up to. No matter whether they wear masks, capes, robes, or uniforms, everyone has a superhero in mind.
