Although His Majesty King Tupou VI’s actual birthday is July 12, we observe his official birthday on July 4. Following a thanksgiving prayer at the palace, a royal luncheon is conducted on the grounds of the palace. He had no offspring, so King Tupou VI succeeded to the Throne of Tonga.
