Pakistan Day is a national holiday celebrated annually in Pakistan. It is of immense significance to the people of Pakistan because it laid the groundwork for the creation of a separate nation for the Muslims of the subcontinent.

Pakistan Day is a national holiday celebrated annually in Pakistan. It is of immense significance to the people of Pakistan because it laid the groundwork for the creation of a separate nation for the Muslims of the subcontinent.

The British Empire ruled the subcontinent for more than two centuries. The Muslim leaders believed that even after the independence of the Indian subcontinent, Muslims were forced to become a minority. The great Muslim philosopher Allama Iqbal and the founder of Pakistan knew that once British rule ended, Muslims would be unable to defend their fundamental liberties.

At a conference convened in Lahore in 1940, Mohammad Ali Jinnah demanded a separate Muslim state. The Muslim authorities were aware that the beliefs and cultures of Muslims and Hindus were distinct. They desired a distinct political and economic system. After the passage of the Pakistan Resolution, the Muslim minority in British India transformed into a nation with distinct sociocultural and political characteristics.

The All India Muslim League’s working committee adopted the Lahore Resolution. This led to the establishment of Pakistan in August 1947, the first Islamic Republic in the globe.

Later, the Lahore Resolution became known as the Pakistan Resolution.

On the third day of the three-day session conducted from March 22 to March 24, 1940, the Lahore Resolution was adopted.

In commemoration of this day, the Minar-e-Pakistan was constructed on the site where the Lahore Resolution was signed.

On the Minar-e-Pakistan, the text of the resolution is inscribed.

The first Pakistani constitution was ratified on the same day, March 23, 1956.
