Only in the 1300s did playing cards make their debut in Europe. They became so popular in Europe that in 1377, a Paris ordinance established official rules to keep players in line.
In 1885, Russel, Morgan & Co., a printing company based in Ohio, produced the first Bicycle® Brand playing cards. Since then, playing cards have adorned homes and events of all types while also influencing modern world history. The United States Playing Card Company produced special Bicycle® Spotter Decks to assist U.S. soldiers in identifying foreign ships, aircraft, and tanks. In addition, unique decks for war prisoners revealed maps when separated and wet. Isn’t that straight out of a movie?
