Pride Month is about love, freedom, and being able to be yourself. People all over the world join in to celebrate this important month in many different ways.

The first big Pride event started in New York more than 50 years ago. Countries across the globe take part. The whole celebration began because of something that happened one night in New York City. In June of 1969, police raided a bar called the Stonewall Inn. This bar was a popular spot for LGBTQ people, and the police had raided it many times before. But that night, people decided to fight back.
