They were the resident band at the Birmingham nightclub Rum Runner. Nick Rhodes was a DJ at the establishment at the time. Stephen Duffy was the group’s first vocalist. The band’s original bassist, Simon Colley, joined shortly thereafter. Throughout its existence, the ensemble underwent numerous changes.
The band Duran Duran issued their debut album on June 15, 1981. The album was a triumph, staying on the Billboard Top 100 chart for 118 weeks. By the end of 1982, the album had achieved platinum certification. There were five recordings on one side and four on the other side of the record. The album’s tracks became instant fan favourites. ‘Careless Memories,’ ‘Planet Earth,’ and ‘Girls on Film’ are a few of the tracks on the album. The band embarked on its first tour in 1981, dubbed the ‘Faster Than Light Tour.’ In the subsequent forty years, numerous journeys were made.
Throughout their career, Duran Duran released a total of 15 studio albums. The albums “Rio,” published in 1982, and “Liberty,” released in 1990, are two of the most popular. Another well-received Duran Duran album published in 2015 is “Paper Gods.”
