Bada Mangal 2023
Bada Mangal 2023: On May 9 we entered the Jyeshta month, and on May 30 it will come to a close. Thus, the four Tuesdays this month are collectively known as Bada Mangal. This year’s Jyeshta month is special because it starts and ends on a Tuesday. This adds considerably more weight to the significance of Jyeshta month.
Bada Mangal also occurs on May 23 (today), June 7, and June 30 after May 9 and May 16.
Lord Hanuman and Lord Rama initially met on the second Tuesday of the month of Jyeshta, according to Sanatan Dharma. According to popular belief, every Tuesday this month has since been dubbed Bada Mangal or Budhwa Mangal. On this holy day, people hold religious feasts (Bhandara) and distribute water to the community as well as hold Kirtans at the temples. It is generally agreed that Bada Mangal originated in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Bada Mangal, or Budhwa Mangal, is a day dedicated to worshipping Lord Hanuman in the hopes of achieving one’s heart’s deepest aspirations. On Bada Mangal, Bhandara is also held at other temples including the Hanuman Mandir in Lucknow. Worshippers of Lord Hanuman who abstain from food and drink on Tuesdays this month would supposedly see their problems evaporate. If you worship on this day, you’ll get rid of bad luck and be blessed.
