Dev Uthani Ekadashi 2022 Date: Prabodhini Ekadashi Vrat Rituals, Shubh Muhurat and Significance
A formidable demon named Jalandhar has existed from the beginning of existence. He was wed to one of Lord Vishnu’s most devoted devotees, Vrinda. Jalandhar became unbeatable as a result of Vrinda’s honorable religion. Jalandhar grew arrogant about his invincibility after defeating Lord Shiva in the battle and started pestering heavenly maidens (apsaras). Lord Indra was horrified by Jalandhar’s actions. Nearly all of the gods were terrified by Jalandhar’s terror. All the gods went to Lord Vishnu and begged him to put an end to the fear in Jalandhar.
Lord Vishnu assumed the guise of Jalandhar at the gods’ behest and subverted the agrarian religion of Vrinda. Jalandhara’s power is diminished when Vrinda’s noble dharma is destroyed and he dies in combat. Vrinda condemned Lord Vishnu to stone after learning that he had wrongfully perverted her husband’s religion. The moment Lord Vishnu turned to stone, the gods were all furious. Everyone pleaded with Vrinda to end the curse. From her mercy, Vrinda released her curse. To maintain Vrinda’s curse, Lord Vishnu, who was repentant for his actions, manifested the stone known as the Shaligram.
