As with most inventions, ice cream soda was created by accident when ice cream and soda were combined. Robert Green allegedly attempted to prepare chilled seltzer at a Philadelphia fair but ran out of ice shavings.
National Ice Cream Soda Day is observed on June 20 annually. Americans across the nation enjoy their favourite confection by experimenting with different flavours and preparation methods. With more than a century of history, there is a great deal to learn about ice cream beverages, from how they were invented to how they are prepared and consumed in various U.S. states and cities.
As with most inventions, ice cream soda was created by accident when ice cream and soda were combined. Robert Green allegedly attempted to prepare chilled seltzer at a Philadelphia fair but ran out of ice shavings. To cool the beverage, he came up with the idea of adding ice cream. Thus, ice cream beverage was created.
There are currently many distinct accounts of the invention of ice cream soda. Even though Robert Green vociferously claimed to be the inventor of the ice cream soda and even had it engraved on his tombstone, another legend asserts that Fred Sanders created the refreshing summer beverage. Sanders ran a candy store and, when he could not obtain sweet cream, he mixed ice cream with soda.
More individuals continued to claim credit for inventing ice cream soda, particularly because it was so successfully marketed and immensely popular. George Guy and Philip Mohr are two well-known candidates for the title of ice cream soda’s inventor.
At the time of its introduction, Baskin Robbins offered 31 flavours, one for each day of the month.
In Germany, the ‘brezel,’ a form of frozen pretzel, is the most popular frozen dessert.
Sorbet is the earliest form of frozen dessert; it was created approximately 5,000 years ago by combining ice and fruit.
In the fourteenth century, an Italian architect devised gelato.
On May 12, 1777, the first advertisement for ice cream appeared.
