Wash Your Nose Day 2023: Date, History, Facts about Nose

The 11th of March annually marks Wash Your Nose Day, an essential health and personal hygiene promotion event. It was created by Xlear, a prominent sinus and dental care company based on xylitol, to emphasise the significance of sinus flushing. Xlear would like to encourage everyone to take the time today and every day to cleanse their noses just as thoroughly as they do their hands and faces.

The background of Wash Your Nose Day

This day seems implausible to many of us, and we may wonder how and why it occurred. However, according to experts, washing your nostrils is as essential as washing your hands or face. Whether you refer to it as nasal washing, nasal flushing, or nasal irrigation, the objective is clear: cleanse your noses. This practise of personal hygiene involves washing the nasal cavity to remove mucus, bacteria, any other undesirable debris, and pathogens in order to improve breathing and the health of the nasal airways as a whole. Additionally, it is useful for treating colds and sinusitis.

Our noses serve as the gateway to our eyes, hearing, and lungs. This also makes it the simplest place for bacteria and viruses to nest. Given that these bacteria can easily travel to other parts of the body, it is crucial to strengthen our nasal defences in order to flush out the threats. Thus, nasal cleansing is necessary. There are many ways to clean your nose, including doctor-prescribed nasal sprays or nebulizers, as well as at-home methods. A saline solution, a squeeze bottle, bulb syringe, or neti pot, a sink, and some tissue paper are required to perform a nasal cleanse. Discover the precise steps to take by reading on.

This day was created by Xlear in 2021. Xlear has become the foremost manufacturer of nasal and dental products containing xylitol due to its innovative nasal spray. Nathan Jones, the holiday’s inventor, established it on the anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic declaration to educate people about the long-term advantages of nasal washing.
