World Ego Awareness Day was created in 2018 to assist those with advanced egoism in learning to interact with others with greater humility. Egoism has a number of negative effects that not only influence the individual but also those around them.

Every year on May 11, World Ego Awareness Day is observed to remind everyone of the hazards of having an inflated ego. Everyone knows someone with a large personality. World Ego Awareness Day is significant because it encourages individuals to contemplate on the size of their ego and evaluate their interactions with others to determine the extent to which their perceived ego conflicts with that of others. Egoism is a mental disorder that should be eradicated by everyone. We should all work together to prevent others from experiencing the effects of this form of maltreatment that is invisible to the naked eye.

Education and advocacy can be used to reduce the number of egocentric individuals in the world. The purpose of World Ego Awareness Day is to bring attention to the issues surrounding egoism and encourage everyone to be mindful, elevate people’s awareness, and speak out against egoistic or narcissistic learned behaviour. We can strive to inform, educate, and prevent one of the leading causes of human suffering on Earth by observing this day, learning from it, and applying what we’ve learned to our daily lives.
