Parents and teachers play a crucial role in influencing the lives of young people. But let’s not forget about the coaches — especially on National Coaches Day October 6.

Olympic gold medalist in soccer for the United States, Julie Foudy, once stated that sports not only produce better athletes, but also better individuals. She ought to know. The lessons acquired through athletic competition are applicable to every aspect of life. Because virtually all of the characteristics we consider “positive” in other people also play a crucial role in sports. Have faith. Teamwork. Communication. Without them, we will not be successful on the field, in the office, or at home. From Little League to the World Cup, the greatest coaches in the world exemplify this winning tradition.

The background of National Coaches Day

Children who participate in athletics achieve greater academic success, feel physically fit, collaborate and communicate with their peers more effectively, and have more successful careers. Each season, the average cost to participate in youth athletics is over $1,000 per child, according to statistics. By contributing to the game’s funding, FlipGive seeks to improve the lives of children.

Political pressures, including a reduction in government expenditure on recreational sports for schools and communities, place our young athletes in a perilous position. In addition, technology has a way of distracting children. Millions of children are significantly less active than they were just five years ago. Numerous parents take out loans to finance their children’s athletic endeavors. Others will only concentrate on one sport, limiting a child’s options. And in the most extreme (and all too common) cases, parents resolve to “sit it out” entirely.

FlipGive enables parents to generate funds while purchasing for items they would ordinarily purchase, preventing them from having to borrow money for their teams. The Boston Celtics appoint Russell as the first black head coach in NBA history. During his final three seasons, he not only coached but also played. Russell won two of his eleven NBA titles as a player-coach, which is virtually unheard today. The date of October 6 is designated as National Coaches Day by a proclamation signed by President Richard Nixon. It says, “Coaches are highly qualified instructors in highly specialized fields.”

But more than that, they are friends and counselors who help inculcate important attitudes in their players that will serve them for the rest of their lives.” Herb Brooks, coach of the United States Olympic men’s ice hockey team, stuns the sports world by guiding the Americans to a semifinal victory over the heavily favored Soviet Union. Brooks’s squad comprises solely of amateurs.

FlipGive becomes the first internationally certified “B Corporation,” utilizing its free team-funding app to leverage the business as a force for children. The amount of money raised through FlipGive’s platform reaches $20 million.

National Coaches Day Events

Let your children’s coaches instruct.

Historically, certain parents have been “too” involved with their children’s sports organizations. Consider your boundaries. Coaches must make difficult choices regarding playing time and strategy. Try to refrain from overstepping unless you observe something egregious. And consult with other parents to gain perspective.

Enter the fray

If you have expertise in a certain discipline, offer to coach. Some leagues may permit participation even if you do not have children on the team. Observing young athletes develop, progress, and mature can transform their lives — and yours.

Serve your troops

Possibly nothing is more essential than your enthusiasm. What’s the purpose of your young slugger hitting a two-run triple if no one is there to cheer and yell “woo-hoo”? Ask any professional athlete about motivation, and they will likely mention their parents and coaches.

THE FIFTH FLIPGIFT: COOL COACHING TIPS

Younger children are typically less competitive and are more interested in having joy than winning a championship. By incorporating exercises disguised as games into practices, your children will feel like they are playing while learning the fundamentals and basics of the sport.

Have a secondary activity in mind if you must deal with rowdy children. Thus, you will be able to maintain order and maintain your position of authority on the field.

Frequently, children learn whom to trust by observing whom their parents trust.Determine, if possible, how the children are doing in school, what their other interests are, and whether or not they have special needs that should be addressed on the field.

Recognize your outstanding players, but avoid disparaging or ignoring the rest of your team. In youth sports, regardless of aptitude, everyone needs support and encouragement. This form of coaching boosts players’ confidence and ensures that everyone feels included. In other words, allow everyone to pitch an inning or take some swings.

Children acquire social signals from the adults in their environment. Remain composed and serene in the face of adversity. This will help them develop sportsmanship in the future.
