In the book, he paid tribute to the art of letter writing and reflected on how it altered his life. In 2014, he created World Letter Writing Day to further honour handwritten correspondence. To promote the art, he also conducts letter-writing seminars in schools.

At that time, however, letters were inscribed on metal, lead, wax-coated wooden tablets, fragments of pottery, animal skin, and papyrus.
