The latest insight into Doherty’s battle with stage 4 cancer comes from her friend and erstwhile ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ castmate. Brian Austin Green shares encouraging information about Shannen Doherty’s battle with stage 4 cancer.

“She is tenacious. He added, “I mean, if anyone I know is going to have to deal with what she is dealing with, she’s the one who can get through it.”

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time in 2015. In 2017, following a period of remission, her illness returned. Doherty, 52, disclosed earlier this summer that she discovered her breast cancer had metastasized, or spread, to her brain. Six months after receiving the CT results, which revealed brain mets, she shared the devastating news on social media.

“January 12, 2023,” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram Reel posted on June 6. “On January 5th, my ct scan revealed Mets in my brain. Yesterday’s video depicted the process of getting fitted for the respirator you wear during brain radiation treatment.

Doherty’s statement continued, “On January 12, the initial radiation treatment was administered. My anxiety is evident. I am extremely claustrophobic, and my life was extremely chaotic. I am privileged to have excellent physicians like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and extraordinary technicians at Cedar Sinai. But this anxiety… This turmoil… This timing… This is how cancer can appear.”

The Heathers actress posted a second update, a behind-the-scenes look at her winter preparations for surgery to remove a tumor in her head caused by metastatic breast cancer, describing her dread as “overwhelming.” Doherty appears to have entirely recovered from her recent surgery, as she has been enjoying date nights, boating days, and even Green’s birthday celebration in July.
